FORTUNA is our second professional production, in partnership with London-based production company Casa Cobra. Casa Cobra is headed by Will Masheter and has a long-standing relationship, via previous productions, with Archie Jennings and Four of Wands Productions. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with Casa Cobra on this exciting project.
FORTUNA is a film written and directed by Max Bartholomew and currently (summer 2024) being shot by Will, Max, Tevin Sahota (Four of Wands) and team, in and around Rio de Janeiro. The production benefits from being produced alongside Casa Cobra’s feature-length COBRA documentary, also shot in Brazil. Months of planning, negotiation, relationship-building and fund raising efforts have brought us to this stage and we can’t wait to share it with you. We will be updating a video production gallery from the team, at the bottom of this page, during the time in Brazil, to keep you informed and also give you the chance to have an insight into the process of making this film.
Earlier in 2024, we released a pre-production trailer, and composers were able to access this for free and re-score it. It was downloaded over 300 times and we featured reviews of re-scores on YouTube, including a live review by Queen’s Gambit composer and Grammy-winner Carlos Rafael Rivera.

- See the livestream review with Carlos here. Our YouTube channel also features live reviews by the production team and by two professors from Leeds University’s film music course.
SYNOPSIS
A short documentary about the pursuit of flight. Centered around Gabriel Lott, a professional wingsuit pilot and member of a Special Operations unit (CORE) in Rio de Janeiro.
Just like his work as a sniper, his perfect precision ranks him as on of the best pilots in the world. Executing and opening some of the most technical exits worldwide, including his renowned home spot, Pedra De Gavea, just 844m above sea level in the center of Rio de Janeiro.
Outside of Wingsuit flying, Gabriel is involved in a complex and violent conflict against some of South America’s most powerful Organisations and Cartels. For many, It’s hard to ignore these reverberations of war as they transcend through the city, it is important to us that this is not hidden from the film. Where necessary we aim to put ourselves forward to document this conflicts impact, from an observational and neutral perspective.
We’ve chosen to incorporate this aspect of his life into the film because it’s integral to depicting a comprehensive portrait of the city. Without grasping this context, we risk missing the genuine impact of Gabriel’s experiences. His career in CORE closely mirrors that of a pilot, so delving into the parallels between both professions and his personal life is essential for a deeper understanding of his pursuit of flight.
